A general update

Busy, busy, busy lately. Here's the rundown:

Last Saturday, our friend Mark came into town to visit, which is always a special occasion. Mark, if you will recall, is my friend who bears a startling resemblance to Bret Michaels... at least in personality.

It was a blast, as always. Mark brought the whole Conter fam along - at least, most of them. His sister Betsy and brother Paul were there, along with a couple of Paul's friends. Unfortunately for Paul, I started calling him Paul2 (similar to Frisky Dingo's Cody 2). Especially after we discovered that my Paul and Paul2 were both Paul Michaels. Paul Michael Con_ _ _, at that. So, at some point, we decided that a Paul Michael Con _ _ _ sandwich photo was in order:

Am I drunk? That's a resounding "YES". Paul #1 informed me that he was raising the roof in honor of the Pauls. Is Paul#1 drunk? Again, resounding "YES".

Hey, here's Paul2's nipple.

Ah, what else do I have from that night... hmm, a lovely picture of Mark and Courtney:

So that was last weekend. Sunday was more or less a lost cause due to all of the drinking on Saturday night.

This weekend we were insanely productive to make up for our unproductive, previous Sunday. We tiled the shower surround - here's how it looked about halfway through.

Since then we've finished tiling, built a shelf at the far end of the tub and grouted that main wall. Wow, no one told me what a royal mess grouting would be! Not so much the actual grouting, but the removal of the excess grout. Wow. I should have taken a picture of that. I looked like I was at Woodstock '94.

Hopefully I'll remember to take some more pictures and do another bathroom date on mental_floss later this week. Because other people's home renovations are so fascinating.

In other news, my grandpa was on vacation in Hawaii last weekend and had a mild heart attack. He's been in the hospital there recovering a little bit for the past couple of days, and tomorrow (ish) they are giving him clearance to fly home. So, I'm headed to the hometown this weekend so see how he is doing. From all reports, he's going to be just fine... but it's always a little sad when you realize your grandparents aren't going to be around forever. Makes you realize that no matter how many times he repeats the same story, it's worth hearing.
